Innovation
Rooted in research, we design our own devices and software to push what can be observed and shared through imaging.
ABOUT
Mercurio Imaging designs devices, carries out complex acquisitions and builds tools to observe and share objects through imaging.
The company
Mercurio Imaging’s story follows a path from public research, through startup support, to production of expert imaging tools.
2016
Eloi Gattet was then a CNRS researcher at the MAP laboratory, developing digitisation solutions combining RTI and photogrammetry. He joined the CNRS pre-maturation programme ahead of technology transfer.
2017
Eloi Gattet brought the project to the Impulse incubator to accelerate structuring of the future industrial device and prepare company creation.
2018
The company was founded after an incubation period within CNRS laboratories, time spent refining its first digital acquisition devices.
2018-2020
Focus on developing scanners to automate object digitisation, building on 3D photogrammetry and RTI (Reflectance Transformation Imaging).
2021
Launch of a full environment dedicated to expert imaging: bringing together tools and services to observe and valorise objects.
Today
A range of scanners, digitisation services for those who prefer not to invest in hardware, and the Mercurio-IE platform to produce and share content.
Our values
Sharing information through imaging is Mercurio’s purpose. We believe image and smart digital technologies are powerful vectors of transmission. We want to connect experts and the public, simply and effectively, at the highest quality level.
Rooted in research, we design our own devices and software to push what can be observed and shared through imaging.
Sharing information through imaging is our reason for being. We want to connect experts and the public, simply and effectively.
Quality, realism, professional rigour and positive impact: we commit our expertise to producing reliable, lasting content.
Team
Mercurio Imaging is built on a partnership between imaging and development, serving demanding, sustainable expert imaging.
Imaging & R&D
Photogrammetry, RTI, imaging applied to heritage
Designs acquisition systems, leads R&D and develops the Mercurio-IE platform.

Open source
Rooted in research, we build on, and contribute to, reference open source projects from the scientific community.
Open Layered IMage Explorer
Open source web library for interactive exploration of high-resolution multi-layer images: RTI, multispectral, deep zoom, annotations.
cnr-isti-vclab/openlime View on GitHub → GitHub → Scientific RTI tools
Open source suite from the VCLab (CNR-ISTI, Pisa) for RTI computation, compression and viewing, at the heart of our acquisition pipeline.
cnr-isti-vclab/relight View on GitHub → GitHub → Capabilities
Mercurio combines workshop, R&D, software development and field capacity to deliver end-to-end expert imaging projects.
Credibility
Articles, interviews and awards documenting Mercurio’s path from research to institutional projects.
Award
Award for the Alcazar Block project with the Musée d’Histoire de Marseille.
